The DBA title is not yet very common in the Czech Republic. In what sphere can we commonly encounter it? How is it obtained?
What is a DBA
DBA is an abbreviation of the English phrase Doctor of Business Administration. As the full wording suggests, it is an educational programme that represents the highest level of management education.
It builds on the BBA and MBA degrees and is practically equivalent to a doctoral degree. It is traditionally used in the Anglo-Saxon education system, as are lower qualifications of this type. However, more and more schools are also offering it in the Czech Republic.
The DBA provides modern management education and a superior extension of knowledge and skills in this sector. Potentially, candidates with this degree can also break into the scientific research sphere. They are then fully competent to lead large teams and implement change in companies.
The prerequisite for admission to study is usually a master's degree and adequate work experience. The field of study is not specified, so graduates can have a degree in both the technical sciences and the humanities.
This is also the case at the European Training Academy, where this study programme is offered in both Czech and English. The recommended duration of the study is 5 semesters and the teaching is carried out in distance learning. It is fully online, using modern e-learning methods.
The whole mechanism of study is thus adapted to all those who are already very busy in their profession. The European Academy of Education emphasises that graduates subsequently apply the knowledge acquired in school to practice. For these reasons, flexibility is one of the priorities in the organisation of the academic year.
Starting and finishing studies is thus entirely in the student's hands. It is possible to apply at any time. In order to start studies, it is sufficient to fulfil the requirements of the previous education completed. The prospective student does not take any entrance examinations.
