This form of study is increasingly preferred by people who study while working or who have various health limitations, women on parental or maternity leave, etc.
It is understandable that distance learning is not suitable for every discipline at university, for example, medics have to come into contact with real hospital environments at teaching hospitals, etc. On the other hand, there are a number of disciplines that can be studied remotely or combined, including, for example, faculties of education.
The Czech secondary and higher education system is only just getting acquainted with this form of learning, but even so, the list of fields of study that can be studied online at secondary and higher education institutions is still expanding; many universities prefer combined study, i.e. a combination of self-study and, in particular, weekend study, but online study is increasingly preferred abroad, especially for professional and managerial degrees.
